Maybe it’s mean, but I get a little kick out of reading about Andrew Keen looking silly in front of people.  No, I’m sure of it: it’s definitely mean.  But it’s still worthwhile reading Lawrence Lessig’s blog about Keen at a Conference.  Now you can feel mean too!  The post is here.

I hate to deluge the site with weird stuff, but well, this was too important to leave off. Howard Rheingold, author of one of the illustrious chapters we read last week, apparently has a . . . creative side. He writes on his blog:

In 1976, Jim Neidhardt put one of the first Sony Portapaks in a backpack and used a telephoto lens. Equipped with a radiomike, Howard Rheingold roamed the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area, posing as Howard K. Martian, extraterrestrial anthropologist.

I’m pretty much addicted to it. I think that’s the young scholar in me, the part that can’t help but say, “Ooh, maybe I can publish something about this dude.” (Read: use him.)

I worked at a day camp last summer. It was shit. But I learned some things:

I asked one of my kid’s who his favorite superhero was. He said “Hannah Montana”. I smacked him with a hockey stick in the mouth. I said, “Don’t you mean Batman you snot nosed whippersnapper?” He said “Whose Batman?” I punched him in the nose.

Kids are bitches. That’s a fact of life. But when I was a kid we watched Batman, not High School Musical.
